Positive: Riad Ritaj is an absolutely beautiful small hotel. We were welcomed by the receptionist with some Moroccan tea whilst our rooms were getting ready. The entrance hall with the fountain in the middle is just breathtaking. The rooms and all common spaces are beautifully decorated and spotless clean. The terrace at the top was an incredible location from where to watch the sunset. The hotel location right near the main square was perfect to go explore. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with eggs, pancakes, juice, coffee, and tea. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Great stay in the hidden gem of the city of Meknes.

Positive: Elegant old Riad in the Medina of Meknes very close to everything a traveler would be interested in. Although cars cannot drive to the riad, it’s a very short walk from the street. The riad is an old palace with a spectacular main floor, and rooms that vary widely depending on price. Mine was the grand, colorful room decorated in gorgeous orange and red that’s pictured on the web site. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, everything works, including WiFi (unlike some riads), and the hotel is a good value. Service at the front desk is very friendly and helpful.

Negative: The breakfast was very basic, and service was poor. Although very few people were being served, it was almost impossible to get coffee/tea refills or to request anything else since the server would disappear for long periods of time.

Summary: If you love riads, you will be happy staying in this one…except for the breakfast.
